MACC VETS S.O.Ps
Currently we have 141 people registered on the web-site (but only about 30 have uploaded pictures). Some are in Canada & some in the sandpit, but they can keep on eye on what the oldies are up to.
There is no e-mail collective.
All Vets e-mails now come from Wix.com
To receive updates & reminders, you have to be registered on the web-site.
There is in fact no membership as such. To protect information, I've restricted some pages on the website,to only people who register. .
If you want to bring a friend or partner along to our social events that's cool too.We have very few rules. However, please note some events are pre booked & pre paid only.
Likewise, you don't even have to be retired to register or join in. Just be current or ex Manchester Centre or VCR.
Lunches are the 2nd Wednesday bi-month & the current crop are mainly based on suggestions from Vets themselves. Lunch attendance has varied from 10 to 35.
When it comes to walks, these are usually (but not exclusively) on the 4th Wednesday of every month.
We walk every month except December. Great walks have been organised in the past by Dennis Crabb, Geoff Carter, Ian Coates, Graham Sweet, Heather Butler, Kay Simpson,Dave Jones & others. We usually get anything between 10 & 23 on a walk.
Anyone who fancies organising something like a week end away, or bowling or cinema or Theatre etc. are welcome to do so, I can provide publicity via e-mails & the website to try & make it a success.
There is no committee or any funds of any significance, so it's run by myself in an autonomous way !!! but I am open to all ideas & suggestions & encourage participation in running things.
I am also on both the local and national branch committees of the Retired Staff Association. There are also links to the RSA on the MACC Vets website and I would urge all Vets to join the RSA.
The overriding aim of both the RSA & MACC Vets is to keep in touch (if you want to) with your old colleagues & enjoy our retirement. The RSA provide valuable input to the CAA Pension scheme, and they still have a member on the board of Trustees.
